Coffee is a game played which involves grinding coffee in Supermarket Sweep. Players may grind a 1 oz bag of coffee beans for an extra $100 during the "Big Sweep".

$100, later $200

In the Lifetime version of the show, Millstone Coffee was used in the coffee grinder, debuting in the later episodes of 1991 and used until 1995. In 2000, when the show was revived by the PAX network, Don Francisco's Gourmet Coffee became one of the show's primary sponsors, lending their brand of coffee to the coffee grinding game up until the show's discontinuation in 2003.

On the first aisle near frozen foods, players will find the store's Millstone Coffee grinder. There are three bags on the machine, each containing 1 ounce of coffee beans. Players must pour the beans into the coffee grinder, put their bag under the spout, and hold down the grind button. Upon grinding, players must fold up the bag and place it in their carts. Players who place the coffee bag in their carts before the bell rings will earn an additional $100 to add on to their sweep total.

List of ItemsEdit

  • Millstone coffee
  • Don Francisco's Gourmet coffee

It took a good 10 seconds to grind the coffee, meaning it virtually took forever. It was always wise to hold the grind button with one hand and use the other hand to grab supersized containers of coffee and tea in an effort to keep shopping throughout.

Location VariantsEdit

  • Between 1991 and 1993, the coffee grinder was located in the back corner of the market near the freezers.
  • From 1993 to 1994, the coffee grinder was placed in Aisle #2, the aisle in the front of the market next to the frozen section.
  • From 1994 to 1995, and then when the show was picked up by the PAX network in 2000, the coffee grinder was moved to the back of the market, 20 feet down from where it was, to the store's 9th, but later 13th aisle. It remained in this location until the show ended in 2003.
